CASE STUDY

Oregon State Football Hall of Fame

Oregon State University
To celebrate the living legacy of Beaver Nation football, we engineered, produced, and installed a new Hall of Fame that honors the many past Oregon State players who went on to play for the NFL.
Following the renovation of the Valley Football Center, the Beavs wanted a high-impact display to pay tribute to their Hall of Fame players. Utilizing backlit acrylic letters, dimensional DIBOND logos, real football helmets, and player plaques, we engineered, produced, and installed interactive displays that popped out of the walls.
Getting everything lit up required careful site surveying and project management. We determined where and how to install lighting before producing all of the graphics and 3D elements. In order to tackle the helmet wall, we created a life-size stencil and then worked with the general contractors to drill holes for lighting placement. Our team then wrapped the wall in vinyl and cut out smaller holes to thread the power sources through to the acrylic letters. This configuration successfully backlit the acrylic letters, giving them a halo effect with no trace of the unsightly wires and cords.

Project Highlight

The NFL helmet wall is a standout feature of this installation – both literally and figuratively. Our 3D engineers determined the alignment and mounting system for the 36 junior-sized helmets within the designated space. Then, our cutting team cut each helmet in half on our band saw and our installers put everything together!

Each football player is highlighted on large acrylic pieces with small plaque mounts in multiple categories: Oregon State Hall of Fame, All-Americans, Top 100 NFL Draft Picks, and Super Bowl Beavers. With room for additional names to be added, recruits can see the impact of choosing to play for this university and visualize themselves among the living legends who came before them.
The resulting Hall of Fame provides a modern look at the past. We brought the client’s three-dimensional vision to life and created a space that commemorates the best of Beaver Football.

Summary of Infinity Images Services

  • Project Management – Our project managers worked with all internal teams and external vendor services to realize OSU Football’s new Hall of Fame on time and within budget.
  • Engineering – Technical and environmental engineering enabled us to back-light the 3D letters and inlay the halved helmets into the wall.
  • Prepress – Preproduction prepped the flat graphics and dimensional components for large-format printing and cutting.
  • Printing – We digitally printed wall vinyl, dimensional DIBOND logos, and player name plaques.
  • Cutting – We used a band saw to halve the helmets, and Zund to shape the dimensional letters and logos, wall vinyl, and player plaques.
  • Fabrication – Our fabrication crew built the 3D letters and name plaque display.
  • Finishing – Final touches – like the orange letter vinyl application – were completed by hand in our shop.
  • Installation – To bring everything together, our expert install crew installed all flat and dimensional elements in the new Hall of Fame.
